📝 INTRODUCTION - SUNLIGHT GROUP

🏭From the Special Projects Department, we have had the opportunity to carry out our 🏅 first project in collaboration with our colleagues from the Switzerland office. Specifically, this project was carried out for:

👉 SUNLIGHT GROUP, a prominent Greek company with over ⏳ 30 years of experience, specializing in the production and development of advanced energy solutions, focusing on industrial and lithium batteries.

🎯Sunlight's mission is to develop high-quality products that meet current and future energy needs, supporting key sectors such as logistics, electric mobility, and renewable energy. Among its main products are industrial 🔋batteries for forklifts, stationary energy storage systems, and cutting-edge lithium batteries.

📈🌍 The growing global demand for energy storage is driving the emerging lithium battery market, considered key to the energy transition and the mass adoption of electric vehicles. This market, with a projected double-digit growth rate in the coming years, is also crucial for integrating renewable energy into the grid and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. However, this boom presents technical and logistical challenges, such as the need for manufacturing environments that ensure maximum quality and efficiency.
 

✨ TEAM 🧑‍💻

🏗️ For the execution of this project, we had a remarkable team of professionals who, from different areas, worked collaboratively to achieve exceptional results.

🔹The engineering team, composed of Karolina Danko, Ivan Royo, Rocio Cerezo, Miguel Gomez, Patrick Landis, and Stefano Lejarraga, led the design from the conceptual phase to the construction phase, providing continuous technical support and solutions tailored to the project’s needs.

🔹Meanwhile, the production and site team, formed by Damian Sadowy, Julian Muñoz, David Quintana, Juan Francisco Robles, Vicente Álvarez, and Jaime Gamero, was responsible for the development and management in the field, ensuring that execution met the highest standards of quality and precision.

🔹We also received invaluable support from the transversal teams, including Esther Fortes and Montse Castillo, as well as the specialists in drafting, Jayrald Sanchez and David Mena.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑The collaboration between offices, including Madrid and Barcelona, was key to managing material purchases and logistics, as well as providing personnel support when required. 

🤝🧩Coordination between our Switzerland office, the Special Projects teams, office staff, and the site team was a real challenge that, thanks to our collective effort, not only overcame the complexities of the project but also reinforced our ability to work as a cohesive team on high-demand projects.

🗓️ INSTALLATION

🌍The project, named Litharaki, takes place at Sunlight’s current plant in Xanthi, Greece, a small town 🏘️ located in the north of Greece near the border with Bulgaria and Turkey.

🔋 This is the first phase 🛠️, a pilot plant 🏭 for the creation of Li-ion cells⚡that will supply the battery assembly area🔧also located at the same plant.
 

🌱 This first phase of the project will have a production capacity of 100 MWh/year, with an expandable target of 100 MWh/year. The design and construction of this pilot line🏗️aim not only to validate production processes on a smaller scale but also to lay the groundwork for establishing a mass production line with a capacity of 8 GWh/year 📅.

🔬 One of the biggest challenges in lithium battery production is the strict control of humidity 💧within the manufacturing facilities 🏭.

🚫Relative humidity above the permitted levels can cause unwanted chemical reactions ⚠️ in hygroscopic materials like lithium, leading to the formation of oxides or hydroxides that degrade the electrochemical properties of the electrodes⚡and can even generate irreversible defects in the cells 🔧. Likewise, particles 🦠 can cause quality issues by interfering with the contact between the materials that form the cell 🧩.

💪 CHALLENGES 

🔧 Among the various challenges we faced in this project, one of the highlights was the implementation of the Dalux software tool 💻, not only for managing design 📐and graphic documentation 🗂️ but also for its application in the field. 

📊 In the design phase, Dalux allowed us to centralize and manage models and plans efficiently, ensuring smooth communication between all teams 🤝. However, the real challenge was integrating its Field functionality in the logistics 🚚 and commissioning stages 🔌. This tool became a key asset 🧩in coordinating deliveries 📦, tracking in real-time ⏱️, managing incidents ⚠️, and ensuring that each team on-site had up-to-date and accurate information 📰. 

📚Although the learning curve was steep 📈, its implementation marked a turning point in efficiency and process control 🔄, helping us meet the demanding deadlines and standards of the project⏳ [...]

💊 On 25th and 26th September we were present at the tenth edition of Farmaforum, the most important event of the Pharmaceutical Industry in Spain, (Forum of the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical and Laboratory Technologies Industry), which took place at IFEMA (Madrid).  

🧫This event shared synergies with Biotechnology and Cosmetics.

🔋 BATTERY EVENT

🧑‍🔬 TEMA RENRUM

📢 Valtria attended the Tema Renrum 2024 event that took place on 26-27 November in Upplands Väsby, Sweden. 

✨Tema  Renrum is the leading cleanroom event in the Nordic countries since it started in 1997, a key meeting point for professionals and companies in cleanroom design and construction, where Valtria shared news and insights.

🛡️👷HEALTH AND SAFETY IN VALTRIA 🚧

In our conversation with Ignacio Carmona, Head of Health and Safety at Valtria, we addressed three key questions that everyone in the company should consider. And this is the cogent conclusion we arrive at: 

"We consider safety and health management as a fundamental pillar of business leadership. To do things right the first time is to do them safely". 
 

📋 How is the safety and health culture promoted at Valtria? What is your primary approach to ensuring health and safety?

Ignacio Carmona: The safety and health culture at Valtria is based on an approach where safety and health at work is considered a collective responsibility, which must be evident and practised at all levels of the company. 

This culture is driven by the management and reinforced by the active participation of all members of Valtria. We do not simply comply with legal obligations and other requirements, but promote continuous improvement of working conditions, managing safety, health and well-being. This involves not only Valtria, but also suppliers, partners, customers and other stakeholders, with the aim of avoiding and preventing accidents and damage to health, providing a safe and healthy environment that promotes general well-being. 

Valtria has adopted ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, reflecting these commitments in our Integrated Management System Policy. At Valtria, we consider safety and health management as a fundamental pillar of business leadership. Doing things right the first time is doing them safely.

🚨 How is the consideration of health and safety evolving in the cleanroom design and installation sector?

Ignacio Carmona: Our clients operate in an international environment with standards of excellence that require us to constantly strive for improvement in safety, health and wellbeing. This leads us to continuously develop and update our working systems and control methods, as well as to generate new awareness-raising actions and best practices. The challenges ahead go beyond mere legal compliance and "making organisations more secure". The reality today is that health and safety has a much more complex role with increasing implications at many levels of the organisation. 
 

Is Valtria committed to new technologies in health and safety?

Ignacio Carmona: We are certainly working on collaborative digitisation. The trend is to make more technical, financial and human resources available, and to put in place mechanisms to ensure that these resources are maintained in the future. The integration of new technologies is key to continuing to improve our processes and ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all.

"My name is Mathieu FUSARO and I am head of PHARMA BU major accounts.
I’ve worked at CLAUGER since August 2000. 
In my time I have been employed as a fitter, then Assistant Manager and in 2001 I was made encoder at the Technological Division (outside the Agro-Foodstuffs Market) 
In 2005, I wished to grow professionally in a technical/sales based position. I have built up the pharmaceutical industry market throughout the Rhone-Alpes region, then in France along with a selection of export contracts".

💬✏️ Hugo OUALLET

"My name is Hugo OUALLET and I have been the Operations Manager for the CLEANROOM TECHNOLOGY MARKETS BU at CLAUGER from 2012 onwards.
My professional career path is wide and varied, defined by passionate and educationally enriching experiences.
I was first engaged in the sphere of industrial cooling and HVAC systems at the firm VENT SERVICE, a regional yet dynamic firm that forms part of the CLAUGER Group. Four four very fulfilling years, I was involved in air treatment projects using different industrial processes.
Afterwards, I was attached to the “Major Agri-Food Sector Projects France” Division at CLAUGER, where I was given the chance to oversee ambitious projects involving some of the main players in the industry, namely, Lactalis, Nestlé or even MHCS. This six-year period enabled me to amass a widespread level of expertise in the management of large scale projects.

A year and a half ago, I was delighted and honoured to be offered the post of Operations Manager for the CLEANROOM TECHNOLOGY MARKETS BU. Each day, I strive to embark upon ground-breaking project while enjoying the support of our teams in the attainment of excellence.

🏢 How would you describe a standard day in the  Brignais´s office?

8:00 - 9:00h - The working day begins by delving into the e-mail inbox followed by carefully prioritising tasks.
9:00 - 11:00h - After this, time is devoted to coordination and follow-up on projects underway.
12:00 - 13:00h - Break for lunch.
13:00 - 15:00h - The afternoon session is set aside for handling administrative, technical or sales projects, depending on the department each person belongs to.
15:00 - 16:30h - Strategic meetings.
16:30 - 18:00h - Finally, the working day draws to a close by finalising tasks and providing a recap of events.
 

💎 What would you say symbolise the core values or aspects of the French team?

In the French team, our watchwords are helpfulness between members, solidarity, thoroughness and professionalism. We make strident efforts never to let a client down, regardless of the hurdles placed along the path. Our main mission consists of standing side-by-side each client displaying determination and expertise.

💚What do you enjoy about the working atmosphere there?

In the French team, we strongly value solidarity in the management of client files, as well as teamwork as a means of helping colleagues. This collaborative spirit is vital for our working environment which we aim to make convivial.  We similarly encourage both professional and personal interactions while appreciating the moments shared together within the teams.

🎁 Is there a tradition or custom in place in the team of which you are especially proud? 

🥂We place the onus on celebrating special occasions such as births or birthdays with enthusiasm.  We regularly share a meal together at our favourite haunts. And sometimes, to further bolster the bond between us, we arrange group outings, this could be a dinner at a restaurant or a hard-fought bowling match. These moments enrich our team building with a view to raising team spirit.
 

🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️ How would you appraise integration with the global team at Valtria? Has your working method changed following the purchase?

Integration is moving forward with baby steps still. Up to now, our working method has not undergone any major change. Nevertheless, we can see how new sales opportunities emerge thanks to Valtria, namely the Algérien project embarked upon in unison with Frédéric Pascual.
 

😊 What is the French team’s contribution to Valtria by Clauger?

The French team will provide wide-ranging experience and a time-served approach, both with regard to operations, as well as sales, management and handling of accounts valued in excess of 5 million euros.
 

👏 If you had to describe the French team in just three words, what would they be and way?

🔹Cooperation, Togetherness and Discipline.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN VALTRIA?
From the outset, I saw an opportunity to bring my health and safety experience to a dynamic and challenging environment where I can contribute to the wellbeing of teams and the success of projects.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT VALTRIA?
The atmosphere, the colleagues and the trust and good vibes. Let mistakes be discussed naturally and achievements be celebrated together.

AND OUTSIDE VALTRIA, WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I enjoy going to the mountains with my dogs and friends, going out for a drink, skating or horse riding, weather permitting.

I chose the Valtria project because I was attracted by both the sector and the opportunity offered by the position itself.

Above all, the human team, I am really delighted with the people and the welcome I have received from all of you.

AND OUTSIDE VALTRIA, WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY IN YOUR FREE TIME?
A difficult question to answer, hahaha, but to sum it up I would say that outside Valtria, I spend my free time travelling with my wife as much as possible, reading, basketball (although less than I would like to) and lots of padel.

I’d say “commitment”; I think it’s the word that defines me best.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN VALTRIA?
It is a challenge, an opportunity for evolution.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT VALTRIA?
I like the simple and direct way the topics are approached. My colleagues have been an incredible help!

AND OUTSIDE VALTRIA, WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I am interested in everything related to health and wellness, so in my spare time I like to do macrobiotic cooking, walks in nature and relaxation.

Transformation

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN VALTRIA?
I met Valtria through one of your subcontractors, specifically Pedro from LOTUM, he told me about you and I liked everything he told me a lot. And then on the other hand I saw it first hand in the interviews I had with you. That's why I decided to join VALTRIA.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT VALTRIA?
Because of the type of work you do, I find clean room air conditioning very interesting. And then there is also the human aspect of the company, from what I have seen and what I have yet to see, you are very good people and colleagues.

AND OUTSIDE VALTRIA, WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY IN YOUR FREE TIME?
Mostly being with family and friends and the time they leave me; I use it for mountain biking and a few trips to the snow to go snowboarding.

A WORD THAT DEFINES YOU:
One word is difficult to define a person, but if I had to put one word it would be ACTIVE, because I consider myself a person who cannot stand still.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN LITEK?
I joined Litek through a scholarship with the EHU university. One teacher told me that he had a good relationship with the company and recommended me to try it out. The sector Litek works in is different from my area of study, so I thought it would be an interesting challenge to get my career off the ground with them.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT LITEK?
I like the fact that it is still a small company, which has allowed me to adapt quickly and feel included among my colleagues. Within the Applications department I feel that I am constantly learning, evolving both my soft skills and my technical knowledge. 

AND OUTSIDE LITEK, WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY IN YOUR FREE TIME?
Ever since I learned to play in a school workshop at the age of 7, I have been a chess fan. I have been playing for years with the Ugao Chess Club, and more recently with the Llodio Club. I would like to become a Grandmaster. I have also been passionate about artistic painting since I was very young. I usually draw the first thing that comes into my head. The photo I have chosen combines my two hobbies, as the drawing is of Beth Harmon from the series "The Queen's Gambit".
A WORD THAT DEFINES YOU: People say I am (too) honest.

On a professional level, I like the breadth of different clients within the Clean Rooms package, the pride of belonging to a reference brand in the engineering world, the new technologies applied to the work system, the general organisation within Valtria.

AND OUTSIDE VALTRIA, WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I like both the mountains and the sea... Scuba diving is my passion and I am lucky enough to share it with my children, when I can I am an underwater guide and I try to show what I am passionate about to people who want to try it.

I also take trips to the mountains whenever I can, and of course, since I’m 50 years young and a tennis enthusiast, I also dedicate some of my time to padel when work allows it.

However, due to the characteristics of my job, I have little free time left, because when you can only afford one weekend a month with your family and friends, you try to make the most of it with good company and sacrifice your free time.

A WORD THAT DEFINES YOU:
Adaptable.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN VALTRIA?
I knew part of the team from my position as a supplier. I had a close relationship with the purchasing, health and safety, project management, and construction departments.
I understood the working system, and over time, the relationship evolved into direct collaboration. I didn’t hesitate to join when the opportunity arose to work with a team where trust was mutual.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT VALTRIA?

I needed a change of scenery from my previous company, and it seemed like a very attractive option, and from what I have been working at Valtria I think I got it right.
